On May 25, 2022, the GSF gathered in Rome with partners and friends who share GSF’s commitment to create a better life for migrants and refugees.
That morning, Pope Francis welcomed the group for a private audience. The Holy Father expressed appreciation for what GSF is doing to foster job creation for migrants, refugees, and internally displaced persons, urging it to continue to take risks and be courageous. He commented:
The composition of the group that represents the Global Solidarity Fund here today is revealing: you belong to very different sectors of society, yet you work together to create a more inclusive economy, giving rise to integration and employment for migrants in a spirit of listening and encounter. This is a courageous path!
Later that day, the GSF delegation visited Casa Scalabrini, a house for migrants and refugees operated by the Scalabrinian Missionaries in Rome – one of many around the world. Casa Scalabrini brings to life the Pope’s encouragement to welcome, accompany, promote, and integrate migrants and refugees.
